One of my favorite valentine youth memory is when I was about 10 yrs old. My mom came home from work (3 shift) to make my sister and I, a valentine out of construction paper and taped a pin on the back for us to wear to school that day. I still have this 40+ year old paper heart and treasure it!!

My favorite Valentine memory will always be going to a birthday party for our very good friend, Tom, whose birthday is Feb. 14. Bon Appetit magazine had a fabulous, heart-shaped chocolate cake on the cover for its February issue. I spent a lot of money on all the Belgian chocolate called for in the recipe. I put this beautiful (and expensive) cake on the floor of the car in a large metal basin. You can guess what happened. Even though I had told my husband where I had put the cake to transport it to the party, he jumped in the car, and put both boots in the cake. I burst into tears. Our friends consoled me, and I am embarrassed to say repaired the cake as best they could and served it! It was wonderful, and we still laugh about this.
